Gym Etiquette Tip #1:
Before each workout, take the time to shower!
I know that sounds weird to say, because you probably planned on taking a shower AFTER your workout. But believe me when I say that during aerobics or a run on the treadmill, someone is bound to be smelling extra ripe, and you don’t want to be the guilty one in that room! I’m not talking about a whole routine of washing then styling your hair and face; nope, just a quick rinse will do. It takes only a few extra minutes, and it is worth it!
Clean sweat while working out does not have an odor. The bacteria that grows on your body while sleeping or while at work all day does have an odor and the smell is especially amplified while exercising and your body heats up.
Take advantage of the showers at the gym if needed. Soap up everything from the neck down. Repeat after your workout.
If you are especially body conscious and worried about showering at the gym (cue horrific memories of junior high school locker rooms…. shudder), I assure you that no one is paying attention; they are all worrying about what they need to get done for their day.
You will feel much more comfortable working out knowing that you are not the one who is smelling particularly odoriffic!
